What is NaProTECHNOLOGY ?

NaProTECHNOLOGY® is a new medical science supported by Pope John Paul II and envisioned by Pope Paul VI which helps couples to treat reproductive disorders in a way which respects their fertility and the sacrament of marriage. It can also be used to treat various gynecologic problems such as premenstrual tension syndrome, abnormal bleeding and others.

NaProTECHNOLOGY® (NPT) stands for Natural Procreative Technologies. Created at the Pope Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction in Omaha, Nebraska by Thomas Hilgers, MD, this evolving science has already helped thousands of women and couples all over the U.S. and in several other nations. Centers for NPT are located across our country and in Ireland, England, New Zealand, Canada, and Mexico. Since NPT is consistent with the teachings of every major religion, it is rapidly gaining in popularity. Furthermore, since women feel so respected during the process of diagnosis and treatment, they are acclaiming the methodology by word of mouth.

NPT is provided to women and couples by doctors who have been trained at the Pope Paul VI Institute and certified by the American Academy of FertilityCare Professionals. The Pope Paul VI Institute is affiliated with Creighton University School of Medicine and has received grants from The Knights of Columbus, Peter's Pence, and donations from many U.S. bishops and cardinals. Dr. Hilgers is a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life and the Pontifical Council for the Family. He and his wife, Sue, created the Pope Paul VI Institute in response to the call to men of science proclaimed in Humanae Vitae.

Dr. Hilgers and his staff are training family physicians and obstetricians from all over the world. Currently, about 40-50 doctors are trained each year. Doctor Carpentier was one of the first physicians trained, back in 1989. He has been treating women/couples using NPT for over 17 years. He returns to the Pope Paul VI Institute yearly to be updated and to help with the training of other doctors. He is one of only five doctors worldwide to have received the Outstanding Medical Consultant Award of the American Academy of FertilityCare Professionals.
